World-Class Skrei Fishing

The sun returns to Sandland Brygge in the month of February every year, just as surely as the Skrei shoals come to our coast from the cold Barents Sea. Now is the time to catch the trophy fish and now is the time to fill up the freezer with cod of the world’s best quality. From February to April, large numbers of skrei enter the Sea off Loppa to spawn, which almost guarantees fishing luck.

With our all-inclusive Skrei experience, you stay in our apartments and/or hotel rooms. You will be served all meals based on our local menu and the sauna is heated and ready when we come in from the fishing trip. After dinner, we plan the next day while enjoying ourselves by paying tribute to the person who deserves to be praised from the day’s event.

We fish from the boat “Aquarius”, which is a 12m long catamaran. It is certified for 12 people and has 10 comfortable seats inside the heated wheelhouse. There is access to the toilet from the deck, which is 5m wide, this gives plenty of space for those who will be fishing. With current and wind, we recommend a maximum of 8 fishermen at a time.

The skipper is Steinar and he will have the fishing guide David with him on most of the trips. After running Sandland Brygge for 13 years, Steinar has the best knowledge of the best fishing spots depending on the weather and wind. David has visited Sandland for many years and is a fishing enthusiast like no other. He will help you with whatever you need help with when you are on board Aquarius.

We also encourage catch and release, so we will also give a short tutorial on how this can be done in the most gentle way for the fish. We will use hand nets to take the fish on board the boat, which means they can be released unharmed. You can of course keep the fish you wish to eat.
